Squeeze @ Pier 17

August 24th, NYC

As we get older and grow up, many times we have attended concerts of our favorite bands to remember the “Good Ol’ Days”. And many times nostalgia fills us and we go back to that time when we were younger and the music was new. Squeeze is one of those bands.

Glenn Tilbrook and Chris Difford, the co-leaders and songwriters of the band, have often been compared to Lennon and McCartney, and for good reason. Over the course of their 45-year career, they’ve produced numerous classics, their cultured new wave and power pop sound both distinctive and timeless. It’s these songs that the band has been celebrating on their current “Squeeze Songbook” tour.

In a consistently well-executed set, they sounded vibrant and strong. For nearly two hours, the group took us on a journey through some of their biggest hits including “Hourglass,” “Pulling Mussels (From the Shell),” “Cool For Cats”, “Tempted”, to some deeper cuts like “King George Street,” “Third Rail,” and “In Quintessence.” All the while, the happy crowd sang along enjoying the ride.

Squeeze have demonstrated the enduring quality of their music for fans new and old!
