Eddie Money’s 70th Birthday Party at NYCB Theatre at Westbury - with special guest John Waite

I've been going to see Eddie Money for years! So how could I miss his 70th birthday?

On Thursday, March 21, 2019 Eddie Money spent his 70th birthday celebrating with his fans at NYCB Theatre at Westbury. Just before the show started, we were presented with a short video bio of Eddie, his family and all the antics that followed them around.

Eddie began the night with "Baby Hold On' and continued with some more of his greatest hits including “Two Tickets to Paradise”, “Take Me Home Tonight”, “Shakin’” and “Walk on Water”.

The jokes continued in between songs and left the fans entertained. Eddie was selling shirts with all proceeds going to charity. He told the audience "Do not wash in hot or cold water", which drew some laughs from the crowd.

Three of his children now play in the band with him. His daughter Jesse joined him on vocals during "Take Me Home Tonight", a song which he originally recorded with Ronnie Spector. His kids got some alone time on the stage performing a few songs of their own.

Eddie ended the set with "Shakin", which got the crowd on their feet and "shakin" their bodies as they danced and sang along.

If you want to catch more of Eddie and his family, Season 2 of his reality show "Real Money" premieres Sunday, May 5th on AXS TV.

John Waite, former lead singer of “The Babys” and “Bad English” has had an outstanding solo career for years.

His voice was melodic and strong as always.

John enjoyed telling the background stories to his songs. He described being inspired by a young 17 year old Nashville waitress/singer and put the story to lyrics in “Bluebird Café."

He delighted us with songs like “Change”, “Back on My Feet Again” and “Missing You”.

Just to remind us that he is truly a rocker, he closed with a superb cover of Led Zeppelin's “Whole Lotta Love”.
